What was your childhood favorite between the two?
You say that like they're limited to childhood. I've liked both outside of childhood and I'm still very actively involved in Pokemon. I watched Digimon last as recently as a year ago, to get a feeling for whether or not it was as good as I remembered.Pokemon has better games. Digimon has had a handful of decent games over the years, but nothing that compares with even the better spin-off Pokemon games. Digimon, however, has had consistently better anime by a long shot.
Anime digimon is definitely better, it actually had a plot and character development.Games as a whole pokemon wins but there are definitely some digimon games I would rank over pokemon games. The difference between the games was the pokemon barely changes their formula from game to game. It is always collect 8 badges from trainers mastering in one element then moving on to the elite 4 and champion. While digimon games have have a completely different formula each game. For example digimon world 1 was more like a tamogachi with a battle element (what better way to improve the tamogachi series) It was fun trying to get to different evolution routes. digimon world 2 was a turn based rpg kinda like fire emblem in the format of how you move across the map. digimon world three was another turn based rpg but similar to the pokemon series now. It had you fighting other tamers and collecting badges but the main plot takes over and in my opinion made it a lot more interesting.TL:DR Digimon games are hit or miss. Unlike pokemon they don't republish the same game with a new color.
