Hey guys...I know this WAY to early ...and I think it's hard to put it in the game ..but ..
What if , when we get the flying ability , we fly slow ..and for a small duration ..BUT  ...with time ..let's say after 30 mins of flight ..the flying speed and duration increases by a certain value?
Wouldn't that be cool ??? It'll be something like training ...you train to get better at it ^^
Maybe this would also work with skills..If you use a skill ..let's say 100 times ..some of it's feats will increase by a bit .
It'll be like you train a skill so you can get better at it .
Anyways ..just my idea ..
Then it wouldn't all be based on gear ...but it'll based on experience too ..well it is now too ...but it'll be more based on it with this ...
And this would also bring into the game one of the best feats of the anime ..and that's training..

I think the idea sounds pretty awesome. I'd cast a vote for it.
It would definitely add some flavor, since people would be better at doing different skills.

I can see people complaining a lot about training all skills for PvP, but it's gotta be better than just sitting there like most capped players.

No, i think its stupid. For beginners it will even harder to catch up, too much work for developers, too much of balansing. If u want it u can go and play 9dragons :)

I like this Idea....dbo would become even more awesome :D

but since there are some ppls who are lazy as shit they'll flame etc... At the end the Team decides anyways so all you can do, Xarlok ,is to wait^^

Haha its a cool idea kinda reminds me of TES or age of wushu how you can train skills and theres so much more attributes to a fighting rather then level and gear, But we should probably wait till the private server drops b4 we start throwing out cool ideas on how to change dbo drastically,

Sorry for saying this so late but this suggestion is great, it will make this game much more realistic and like in the anime when Gohan was teaching Videl to fly and Videl trained for about 10 days (if i'm not wrong) to master it...

This idea has been implemented into sword art online, awesome and everything, but for dbo its a totally different system, yeah let's go spam the skill on level 1 mobs and you become OP, no this system would change dbo completely.

Oddly enough, an entire game was built around the idea you're describing. It was called Ultima Online, came out in 1997, is still around, and somehow still costs 30 bucks a month (and still has players who are willing to pay that). Now, price per month and all that aside, this idea also came into play as the basis of the character system for ye olde Star Wars Galaxies.

The main difference between what you've described and those two games is that DBO is set up to be a character level based system, rather than a skills based system. And the idea as you've described it would be hybriding in some of the skills based system aspects, such as getting better at a skill by using it more without going full tilt into building a new game to utilize the different mechanics.

So, to break away from what you are suggesting for a bit, to make DBO into a skills based system rather than a level based system would require, at least, a list of skills for players to have. Further, you would need some stats to tie things together (and provide hp, energy points, etc) and so on. All in all, if you wanted a skills based system, you would probably be better off just playing the Dragonball Z mud. Yes, it completely lacks graphics, but that's where the power of your imagination comes in. And where being able to write sentences helps. And having a strong grasp on how command lines function would probably be good too. But that's a tangent on this tangent paragraph. If you wanted to make DBO into a skills based system, you would need skills like 'ki control' 'fly' 'punch' etc. And with a skills based system, to prevent the whole 'someone who has no life can max all the skills forever and kill everyone' you would need a skill cap. In the example of ultima online, you could get any skill up to 100 (and with the right scroll, 120). But you could only have 700 skill points. So that's 7 skills at 100, or up to 6 at 120, or some other mixture of your choice.

To get back on topic, I think this is a good idea. It may require quite a bit of work to make it work out, but rewarding players for putting in the time on their character to master their skills beyond just having them, or just dumping some skill points into them, makes a fair bit of sense. After all, we see krillen training by shooting kamehameha's into the ocean, maybe he was just ranking his skill up so it didn't suck so bad compared to Goku's.

If you ask me the idea is good, but it would change the gameplay a lot and it wouldnt be the same. Besides people would just spam the skills, it should just be as it is. equal for any one.
