Hi All

I have a question

How many channels and servers  on DBOR  ?
Where  is localization server?


If you have 3channels= very difficult for quest  and dragon ball because  lot of people 

I hope 10channels   ;D

I wouldn't imagine there would need to be 10 channels. Honestly with how relatively small the DBO community is 1 server with 5-6 channels should suffice(though I wouldn't want more than 4). I can imagine it would be like DBO used to be 1-2 medium to large active channels with the rest being pretty inactive. I wouldn't think anyone would really want to play without seeing anybody around hardly. Multiple servers and many channels wouldn't be any fun lol

There will be over 9000 channels so every nub can be on one at a time.

Difficult for farming with 3channels because  location is too busy

I don't know how many channels there will be, but if I had to take a guess, I would say 5 channels.

We are looking into the possibility of having 2 servers if it gets way too crowded and lag pikes start to happen too often. But if that doesn't happen the ammount of channels hasn't been decided yet since we can't possibly now how many people will actually play it.

So... I can't give you an exact number, but just an idea.

Most likely it would be a North American server or a European server as that's where most of the players are from.

I can't say for sure though, but those are the two most likely spots.

I think the 5 channels are fine enough because in DBO they weren't very crowded.

Better ping? But people played the game despite the servers being chingchonglandia, so even if a person isnt in the right zone it should be not thaaaat different

When I first saw this thread I was all 'channels? what the hell are you talking about?'. Thankfully, it made sense by the time I was done reading through the thread, but at first I thought you were talking about chat channels, which would be odd to limit, rather than instances of the same general area map (or shards, or channels, or whatever you want to call them).

For reference, champions online has a maximum character limit per 'channel'*, with smaller areas having a maximum of 30 players per channel and larger areas, like sections of the city itself, holding up to 100 players in them. Because of the size, visibility, and so on for the maps, 100 people per channel can get pretty crowded if everyone is there trying to farm, do quests, or what have you. However, for DBO, unless it's already in place by default, there doesn't seem to be much reason to limit characters per channel at the start. First you'll need to see if there are any breaking points (like, an area can only handle x number of players in it at once) and then you'll need to see if you have to bring a potential maximum below that point due to just how many people are playing and a lack of things to farm.

I'm not sure how it worked on DBO, but instances will close themselves when empty in champions online, and open new ones when the cap is close to being hit in the other instances of that map. An example would be the main city area, which has a player limit of 100, but regularly has a number of instances (channels) open in the double digits, sometimes the triple digits.

*they are called instances in that game.

Granted there are certain farming spots that can get crowded at certain times/days. But honestly when everyone is spending time leveling I want to see a decent group of people at TMQ or people running around the map. And when people reach cap and there is nothing to do besides chill there be a decent amount of people on platform(meaning at the absolute least 25 people in Korin). I dont see the point in spreading people out for the small grinding/farming areas and sacrificing the amount of people you can meet and play against with a bunch of channels and potentially several servers. For example lets take Taiwan into consideration they made wayyyy to many channels and servers and had to shrink it down to 2 because dam near nobody was playing on most. I remember playing on server 1 so much longer because it was more fun to play with hundreds of people on plat on 2-3 channels and just having fun than when I checked out the other servers there were a measly few people in Korin on the most active channelsand 3 people were winning budokai cuz nobody else participated.

I know for a fact that the spreading out of players contributed to DBOs death because it was a small amount of people to begin with and spreading them out made people bored. Keep everyone together on one server with 5-6 channels and I am positive the game will be far more interesting

Sagetim, this isn't Champions online, Different areas ALL have the same channel. The only way you can change channel is by getting the menu up and clicking change channel, no the system wont force you into another channel. Since all the worlds are connected to each other, Imagine it all as one big system, so if someone was channel 1 in Kokkara and another channel 1 Porunga Rocks, then they theoritically can meet each other in the same world.

Also lets take numbers into consideration. Taiwan opened with supposedly 1 million players. There was a big announcement on the wasabii page about the game attracting 1 million users but I questioned this at the time thinking they must mean accounts created not real users, but perhaps it was true. By the time the servers merged to 2 I wanna estimate there was maybe 200,000 playing weekly and thats being generous. By the end of the first year maybe 80,000? And towards the death of the server maybe a few thousand 10-20,000 both servers? Our community when the game releases will probably be made up of around 15-20,000 people by the release? With numbers dropping over time. Why spread such a small community out? Whats the fun in dojo wars and making big guilds and having an active auctin house etc. Lol okay my rants over

 Guess I should have only 1 server and more channels + / - 10, because in lv 70 cap you'll never be able to farm in peace with only 5 channels.
 But how have nothing decided yet, whatever.

Well aware I spoke of the servers before the merger. In KR there was originally 8 when i started there and those all died and fell to way before Taiwan and damn near nobody played on server 1 in KR besides a handful of people lol. Their budokais didnt even come close to having full participants and level 40s made it to the top 16 lol
