Well... I wouldn't put much faith in IGN. (Can't spell ignorance without IGN).
But if GameStop is really going...

I really don't care. 'Cuz GameStop sucks.

There are a lot of other places covering this. I linked IGN cuz I'm lazy and it was the first one Google gave me.

Okay. If multiple sources are saying it, then I can probably believe it.

Now if only IGN would go under.

Wow. I am full of hate towards a lot of things aren't I? XD

Can't argue that. Kinda makes me sad... when it doesn't make me hate. XD

I always had a hard time shopping at GameStop (they don't have one here, but when I'd go to visit family or go to a nearby city they usually had one. The one in the neighboring city didn't even last a full year).
The clerks were arrogant and usually knew nothing of the products they were selling.

The local video store here might not sell games (you have to order them 99% of the time), but they at least have details on the games most of the time. Heck the local store even mentions DBZ (they had a thing listing Battle of Z back when it was announced) and Persona. The people that own it are good people too.

I have a store here that still stays retro. A few months ago when I wanted an NES that's where I went. They have a lot of stock and its kind of a mess inside but the guys who run it are good guys who actually care about gaming.

They had one of those combination NES-SNES-Genesis things at the video store here a while back. I thought about getting it, but I still have my old Genesis. I don't use it much, but it's comforting that it's there.

There's a little game store in a nearby city. It ran the GameStop there into the ground with ease. They've got games from every generation there too. They can import, too (although so can the video store here). They also give an awesome trade-in value. You trade in a game, the bare-minimum (even if it doesn't have the original case or instructions and was a super-common release, as long as it's not a sports game) was $5.00. I traded in around 3 old games, and got $25. I took that money and bought Crisis Core and a Harvest Moon game for my PSP. Good times. XD

I hated buying games at gamestop at times when i wanted to buy a game the clerk would always ask "You sure you wanna buy that" he would have that disbelieving voice and everything...I got annoyed one time and just said "If i didnt wanna buy the god damn game i wouldnt be handing u the money for it right now would i?" So eh if they close i could give a naughtyword less BYEEEE GAMESTOP HAVE A NICE LIFE IN HELL. U_U

Those combo systems are usually shit wrapped in plastic. Don't get it.

I only ever bought from gamestop because I don't have a license or a car and the only people who who give me rides don't like taking me to the local shop because the store is a mess, I end up staying in there for almost an hour sometimes and the guy behind the counter has green hair.

Are those combo systems that bad? I'll take your word for it.

But yeah, I noticed the GameStops I've been to, they always had ridiculous hair...

The only time I was ever satisfied at a GameStop was when I was in high school. I was visiting my mom for Christmas, and they had a deal going that was like buy 3 used games and get one free.

The "game" I got for free was Bardock: The Father of Goku on DVD. Not a game, but dammit, that is one fine TV Special.

Maybe if your mindset is stuck in the 50s.

The guys who run the store haven't admitted to it, and I have no actual evidence, but they're stoners.

Ah, GameStop. I remember when I was younger, it used to be a damn good place to get games. I knew most of the employees at my local ones, but customer service has dropped like a damn rock lately. I was looking for an AV cable for a PS2 (of 3, they use the same one) because the one I got off a friend didn't have one compatible with my TV. I walk in the damn door and the first thing to greet me is a guy with three of his front teeth missing who looks like he hasn't showered in weeks. How does he greet me? With "Hay gurl, wazzup?"

God dammit. When I walk in a store, I expect to be treated like a customer, not a five dollar hooker. I could literally get better customer service at the WalMart than I did that day.

Anyway, I don't shop at GameStop anymore for my games -- that's what Steam is for and, like the guy in the video, I have a local retailer that sells lots of used retro games for pennies on the dollar -- even old systems and accessories. Oh, and they also stock new stuff, take preorders, and have sales associates that know what the hell they're talking about. Great folks to strike up a conversation with too.

For those of you without that luxury, I'm going to recommend a place that the guy in the video didn't mention: Toys "R" Us. It's a great place to buy new games, right down to preorders. On top of that, I've never had an issue with the staff and the selection is top notch. I'm usually there because the selection for everything makes it a toy collector's dream -- even though the prices are steeper than WalMart, you shouldn't have much of a problem finding what you're looking for. Fortunately, games are the same price everywhere, so if you have a TRU in your area, hit it up.
