Yeah I kinda agree. I'm not really against AMD but the i7 series are really a fantastic series of CPU's, im running the i7-3770s and it runs like a dream.

I wouldn't say much more. Yeah they're not cheap but its a high end processor and the next to top model intel do besides the i7 - Extreme Edition

AMD 8 cores CPU are much better for gaming, more powerfull and a lot cheaper. Check AMD FX-8350 :)

I'm actually about to build a new computer and this is the processor I was probably going to go with.

Tbh idk why I'm choosing this one over an intel, but I am.

Why is that? I have never had any problems with amd before. They seem fine to me, and a bit cheaper. That's why I was going with that.

Both of these statements are true. The Intel i7 Haswell processors are the best, but for just gaming they're entirely unnecessary. You won't see much difference in gaming between them.

Intel isn't actually designed for gamers, it's designed for everything beyond it. Programming, rendering etc, that is where the intel processors shine. Getting an i7 processor is a waste of money if you're only going to game. The money saved on an AMD processor can be put towards the graphics card.

Of course if you're going to get an AMD graphics card I'd say go with an Intel CPU, it'll handle the PhysX processing better than an AMD CPU would, but for that I recommend just getting an Nvidia GPU for the onboard PhysX processing, since it is an Nvidia trademark.

Don't just say not to do that, it's his computer to build how he sees fit. If you think it isn't a good decision than explain to him why it would not be.

You see I don't just game. I record a lot of my gaming footage and that takes a good CPU. I also do video editing and 3D model rendering for my uni course and other CPU related activities.

I needed something that could multitask. Literally everyone on my course has some variant of the i7 processor.

Yes, here in Australia there is a huge difference between the two.

You seem to misunderstand. I'm not arguing for AMD CPUs to be better than Intel as that simply isn't the case. Intel is just unnecessary overkill if you're only going to play games. Wasted money.

And no, intel is not better in all aspects. Intel GPUs are abominations. If you're going to make an HTPC an AMD A10 is the best way to go.

That said, if you're a big spender like a close friend of mine and like overkill. Sure go with Intel. He has the 6 core i7 and he's quite happy with it.

I really enjoy my i7, and all other Intel chips i've had thus far. None have gave out. But I really can't weigh in on AMD, as i've never used one.

I think they are head to head as obviously those of AMD processors are made to play, however, have a very high consumption as well as their price

I've dealt with both. I for overclocking your system (if you guys are into that) AMD is amazing on every level. Intel can overclock as well, but I think it is only with the processors that have K next to them.

I'm quite happy with my AMD, even if it's four years old. Haven't had any problems.
