General Discussion / Re: Question about DBOR release
« on: May 01, 2016, 03:16:37 PM »
Ima veteran to these forums and ima give you a truthful answer with no bs like most people like to comment......

The game is most likely NEVER going to get released because "the boat is sinking faster than the crew can repair". Much (not all) of the community gave up, lost patience and/or faith in the revival and opted out. There is a reason dbor went from "Independent team" to recruiting developers. This very thread is just part of the cycle.....Someone questions dbor release>many people respond>admin closes thread saying we need to be patient>weeks or months pass>repeat

TL;DR There is never going to be a release date, if so it will be YEARS from now with current progress/updates.

Well put sir

Just because I don’t think anyone else will address it, I gotta talk about the elephant in the room: isn’t it a bit odd that we’re getting two Star Wars films in a row with female leads?

Now, there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just really unusual. Let me back up and explain. Part of the reason Disney bought Star Wars (and Marvel) is because their merchandise sold really well, but disporotionately to a female demographic because so much of it is based on Disney Princesses and such. Since basically every children’s toy (barring maybe certain LEGO sets with no accompanying plot or licensed material) tends to be marketed toward one sex or another, they figured they were losing out on the male demographic and needed to make up for that.

You could say that they feel a need to market toward women or whatever, sure, but I don’t think that’s actually an issue because women don’t have a problem with liking things “for boys”. Women show up by the dozen for superhero movies and the biggest Star Wars fans I’ve ever met were female. Meanwhile, the inverse is definitely true -- men tend to avoid things made with a female demographic in mind, and those that do like things like them are generally quiet about how much they enjoy them. I obviously don’t think Star Wars is in any danger of falling into that pitfall, I’m simply acknowledging it exists.

It just strikes me as odd, because a male lead seems like a more logical choice from a merchandising perspective.

Also, I think this movie is largely going to be pandering to people who can’t get over how much they love the original trilogy and exists for that reason alone, knowing it’ll draw in legions of nostalgic fans. I’m mostly interested in seeing if it’ll keep true to its promise of being morally gray and actually present the rebels as the filthy terrorists they are.

Very good points

I had plenty of gripes with TFA the first time I saw it. After the second time watching it in theater's i realized it wasn't that bad, just was disappointed they rehashed the original story to appeal to the fans and nostalgia. That being said these movies have a lot of promise.

The female's being the main protagonists in now back to back Starwars films is a little disappointing to me. I have no problem with Rey in fact I love Daisy Ridley and her character. However this being another female lead role disappoints me because I feel like its more about being politically correct than so much about the best lead role choice. Too many wanna be Katniss Everdeens these days. Maybe I am wrong but I always felt at least specifically with the originals there was good character balance between the group between Luke, Leia, and Han. Obviously it revolved around the Skywalkers the first 6 movies but I never felt like it catered only towards males.

Also already not impressed with Forest Whitaker being in the movie with I guess a missing leg or something and the Asian guy (who might be blind) fighting stormtroopers with a pole was stupid looking. I know they are stormtroopers and usually miss everything but why get your ass kicked with a pole instead of just shooting the

I had and still do have a lot of hope for this movie but the trailer just looked like another Hunger Games/Maze Runner movie with a Starwars theme. Hopefully it isn't. Naturally I will not miss opening weekend because it is Starwars which I have loved since I first got my aunt's old box set when I was 2 back in the early 90's. My big hope with this movie though is they act like Vader is MIA all movie and the Rebels think they are kicking ass and he shows up at the end and slaughters everyone. That would let me leave the movies happy :)

I am really excited for the possible Boba Fett movie that could be coming out that has a ton of promise, however I do not agree with the Han Solo movie at all. I feel no one is worth enough to fill the shoes of Harrison Ford and frankly I don't want to see who Disney attempts to cast for the role of a young Han Solo. They should drop that and focus maybe more on a Vader story before episode 4, maybe him hunting down Jedi in other reaches of the galaxy or something along the lines of The Force Unleashed.

The waterfall in Korin was definitely a favorite of mine. I enjoyed climbing trees mostly the one right behind platform and just sitting up there talking in chat.

My absolute favorite place was the hidden Ice Chambers in the North Map. I remember first finding it and just thinking how beautiful it was especially that first room. It was fun running around in the back with the Mammoths and stuff. Wish the area was utilized more. The wall up there was also a favorite place to just chill out too. Gosh so many great places honestly I miss DBO

My brother is playing through PokemonX I think.
After PokemonX I am pretty sure that he wants to finish Omega Ruby(which we already own).
We have also Pokemon Black2.

I haven't played Pokemon since Leaf Green though. So I may be not a lot of help. Feel free to ask though.

Leaf Green was a great game one of my favorites following the Gen 3s and Yellow. Last one I played was White 2. Have Y and Omega Ruby but haven't gotten around to playing those yet.

Was just watching some HP movies the other day. So sad. RIP

Wow that's nuts a ton of weight for sure! I definitely think his bench could be improved though. That is still a shit ton of weight but I think he could definitely push it further. Squat was really impressive as well as deadlift.

I'm not one for power lifting as I don't have the body frame or desire to be heavy enough to sustain that much weight, but I really respect the guys that can do it and do it well.

Off Topic / Re: Weed

Do your research. Weed releases TONS of dopa-mine from your body, more so than a lot of any other pleasurable thing. Your body likes something that releases tons of dopa-mine, and if you stop suddenly, if can make your body crave it, making you feel very very sick.

Agreed. Whether you become addicted to something really comes down to the person and their personality too. I know people who literally get the shakes and will bug out if they don't smoke.

Back on topic though I used to smoke nearly everyday. Stopped that about 2 years ago. Now it's just kind of a once every few weeks or so with friends or a party. Been off for a couple months though after some laced blunts really had me fucked up all day. Worst high of my life never wanted a high to be over with so much lol

Game Discussion / Re: The Unofficial Balancing Discussion (WIP)
« on: August 09, 2015, 09:59:32 AM »
As long as the Majin spins go back to the way they were before they got nerfed to be useless then I'm satisfied lol. As for the other classes I'm interested to see how it is balanced out by the team.

I do wanna say I agree there should be a thread where people can voice their opinions and suggestions for the team to take into consideration for balancing.

Knowing the team though I'm sure they've thought a lot about balancing and what needs and should be done. They played the game too so they know just as well as anybody that a lot can be done to better balance things. Suggestions are good but I think they will have it balanced better than ever and we should host most suggestions until we get a chance to test their new balancing format.
