Our Translation posts generally aren't very well received,
is that because they are boring, or you generally don't care about it?

A full English translation is the only reason I actually want to play this game. I'm kind of a lore naughtyword. That said, I'd have to imagine that, since translation updates are all text, it's not going to grab people's attention like actual game footage would.

I remember playing DBO with the English patch, where half the game was basically translated, and half of it was not -- It was still super fun, and it made the game even better since I could actually read some of the things.  Having DBO be ALL in a language I can actually read? That will make the game 100 times better, if you ask me. So in short, yes I care about it! Progress is progress, right? I like to play games in my language, after all... Keep up the awesome work!

I personally think don't worry about if the updates aren't generally well received. Even though it might not look like people don't care about it or aren't paying much attention, translation is important regardless because to me that's what separates this project from other DBO projects out there (I'm not going to bother naming the ones I'm talking about).

English translations is what will draw people to DBO R anyway. I remember a lot of people back in the days of DBO KR, TW and HK didn't play those versions because the game "wasn't in english". There was so many friends I tried getting into the game and that alone was enough to make them not want to play DBO, but now that I told them about DBO R's existence and about the translation changes it's going through all of a sudden those people are interested in the project.

Trust me when I say this, there are a lot of lurkers on forums and websites. People who are reading and watching from the shadows, but don't bother to post anything. People are taking notice even if it doesn't look like it.

I will just say my story, which is very relevant. I learned about DBO maybe 2 months after its shutdown, and then after some time i learned about this project. I told 2-3 friends of mine that watched Dragonball and could want to play it.

Then all 3 of them told me that there was a game before, but they couldn't understand what they were supposed to do and dropped it immediately, that's why they didn't tell me before. Hearing that it will be released in English made them very happy as they liked the game but  couldn't stand the language(all 3 of them never register in any kind of forum or websites).

Long story short, i LOVE those mini updates, those translations, it shows that you guys show us some content (even when this content is a simple translation). As Tempest already said , there are many people waiting for DBOR and just don't post here or are around to show themselves.

I think the thing is, the best way to post translation updates is through a quick video run down. It's the fact that pictures <<<<<<<< videos

As was said previously, most people care too much for visuals, hence they may bash on "translation updates", but there's other great deal of peeps who get it.

Tbh when the original DBO was alive... yes, there was an english patch, but it translated close to nothing of the game, only interfaces and such which helped a lot to understand how the game worked but nothing regarding it's story, WHY you are doing what you are doing on a quest, and so on.
Having said this, I'm super excited each time I see more progress on the translations. It actually shows how flipping much time it's spent on improving the project and the final outcome that people will get and hopefully enjoy it for such.

But hey, there'll always be haterz.

When I first played this game, I had no idea it had translations so I basically leveled without it the whole time. Later on I found out when I made new characters but I still didn't care for reading quest info because I was so use to it lol. All the translations I need are for the gear really, but if the story is translated as well, I'll read them this time. If I had to learn a new language for this, that'd be fun tbh....but doesn't affect your gameplay exp at all to me

All right, I'm going to say this.

I don't read quest stories. The story in DBO does not interest me in the slightest. I don't care about the translation nor do I care about playing the game.
All I want to use this game for is Photoshop and modding. I might mess around in the game.

However, there are definitely people who want this game in English. If you decide to release the game without it being fully translated, I'd suggest wrapping things up for those who do want it in English.

Edit: Didn't even read the main post.. So the thread is based on translation updates on the forum? If so I really don't care about those.

You know what? Yeah. I want to play the game in English.

I'm old enough to remember when we didn't get DBZ games in English, and a lot of them never got even fan translations, and the ones that did were usually broken English (or even just plain inaccurate).

Hell, even now, there's DBZ games that haven't gotten a proper translation, be it officially or from fans. It's not whether it's a complicated game or not... it's about the idea that we, as a fanbase, should be allowed to enjoy the damn game without having to get by on just context.

Moreover, since the story was written by Akira Toriyama himself, that's all the more reason to be interested in it. Yeah, it's undoubtedly dumb and simple, but it still doesn't mean we don't want to know what's going on.

"I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to Death, Nor known to Life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works."

Imo, It doesn't matter what language you put the game into, me and my buds were able to play it before no issues and no problems, after we got the hang of it, it was easy as pie. Just know that we'll still support this project on whatever it is you decide for it, now in a wide variety opinion, people would/do prefer a game they could play and understand, so like Tempest said sometimes the Language does matter to reel in some players.

A full English translation is the only reason I actually want to play this game. I'm kind of a lore naughtyword. That said, I'd have to imagine that, since translation updates are all text, it's not going to grab people's attention like actual game footage would.

This is basically my response here too. I quit the game multiple times back when it was up because I had no story to enjoy... The full-English patch was not up yet so I was just walking around killing squirrels, hoping I'd kill the right ones for the 臺語 郡中鴃舌鳥語,全不可曉。如 quest I had to do. In the DBOR forums I've made friends and got into a guild I really like so even if it's not in English, I'm quite sure I'll enjoy the game because of them but the English updates really make my day since that's what limited me the most back when I played. I think you already know this @Luke[Dumke] but I still had to point it out here.

What I think is that the translation updates aren't getting much positive stuff because people just want the game. Most of the fans played the game in Asian languages so I doubt they really care at this point after waiting so long for their beloved game to return. Everyone will still love to see the game in their native languages but I bet it's not everyone's priority.

P.S: I just copied and pasted some Taiwanese characters from Wikipedia. In case you're wondering.

Something most don't understand even thou we've said it a million times: Translations are aside development progress, for the developers work on the server, whilst others (such as Luke, Link, etc.) translate.

Translation progress does not slow down the release date.
