Toei Animation Begins Production on Dragon Ball SuperDrawn From a Plot By The Brand’s Original Creator, Dragon Ball Super Is The First New Series In Eighteen YearsToei Animation has announced production on Dragon Ball Super (Japanese title; tentative for English release), the first all-new Dragon Ball television series to be released in 18 years. Following the recent events of the hit feature film, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, Dragon Ball Super will debut in Japan in July 2015.Reuniting the franchise’s iconic characters, Dragon Ball Super will follow the aftermath of Goku’s fierce battle with Majin Buu, as he attempts to maintain earth’s fragile peace. Overseen by Dragon Ball’s original creator, Akira Toriyama and produced with Fuji Television, Dragon Ball Super will draw on its historic past to create a bold, new universe welcoming to fans and endearing to new viewers.“Having loved Dragon Ball since childhood, it is very exciting to be a part of this project,” said Osamu Nozaki, producer for Fuji Television. “Mr. Toriyama has developed a plot that’s not only a dream come true for Dragon Ball’s millions of fans, but one that will foster in a new generation of viewers.”
For the first time in 18 years, a new Dragon Ball anime will be airing Sundays in Japan at 9 on Fuji TV sometime in July. Dragon Ball Super will take place after the Majin Buu Arc and feature story and character ideas by Akira Toriyama. He's already submitted a plot to the producer, and an enemy "even stronger than Buu and Freeza may appear".
That's right. After 18 years Dragonball is finally getting a new animated series. Not a movie, a series. Here is the info my friend TheDevilsCorpse posted on his DA account about the situation. So please excuse me while I go squee like a fangirl over this.
Hmm... it will focus on the time after Buu? what about what happened in GT? didnt really understand the plot of the new DB series.
GT's pretty much been hammered out of the timeline with the last two movies and this series giving it the middle finger.
In other words the new series will be the timeline between the defeat of Buu and GT?And is there any authorized source says something about this new DB series?
GT is pretty much dead. The new movies contradict with GT heavily and are considered canon so they basically throw it out the window. Hell it wasn't even a "true" continuation to the series, but more a side story as Akira calls it.And here's the press release on the matter by Toei Animation. http://corp.toei-anim.co.jp/press/2015/04/_730.php Kanzenshuu will most likely have a translation up in the future so I'll post that when it's done.
Thanks. I guess this series will come up once DB Kai is over?
but there's a part of me that really just wants Dragon Ball to die already. I know, I'm a terrible person.
a reminder who is Uub? and what happened with him? kinda forgot everything xD
I really hope this ties into the plot of Dragon Ball Online. Not to say they should show the events from DBO itself, but it would be really cool to see the timeline from DBO play out.I think I've mentioned it before, but the perfect way to cap this would be with Goku and Vegeta going into space to end their rivalry, once and for all, just as the game's timeline depicted.
They wont do that because dbo was shut down a long time ago.
Part of me wants to keep my faith because Toriyama's sense of humor will probably shine through, but I'm a bit more than apprehensive about this just because, you know, GT happened. I'm not really sure what to think about all of this new content anymore. At first, it was kind of exciting, but there's a part of me that really just wants Dragon Ball to die already. I know, I'm a terrible person.
So please excuse me while I go squee like a fangirl over this.
