Well I've read bits of the manga and saw a great deal of the anime (regrettably in dub as well), but like Nia it's been a very long time since I've done so. However, I at least know that the whole Dragonball series (DBZ included) goes under that name. I think the "Z" in DBZ was either a Toei thing, Funi/Ocean Dub thing, or just something by the anime in general as even the dub mangas follow under the single "Dragonball" name.
I did see the first Dragon Ball, ever since the beginning. In the Latinamerican Cartoon Network we also had Toonami(although it was released years after the american Toonami), and this Toonami broadcasted the first Dragon Ball along with other golden animes (but not as much as the american version of Toonami). It was Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, Captain Tsubasa, Zatch Bell, Rave Master, Cyborg 009, Saint Seiya, Astro Boy, One Piece, Trigun, Naruto, etc.The first broadcast of Dragon Ball was the original goofy one. It broadcasted the whole series at least twice, along with the movies. Eventually one night I remember watching the last episode of Dragon Ball and when I was expecting the first episode of Dragon Ball (thought it would be rebroadcasted), another opening appeared, much similar to Dragon Ball, and it was the opening of DBZ. And so I watched the whole series and here I am, many years after that.Nowadays the first Dragon Ball gets rebroadcasted alot in a channel called ToonCast, which has alot of vintage CartoonNetwork shows. I love watching Samurai Jack there.
Also I liked how the fighters were really strong but not overwhelmingly powerful, it was almost believable in a sense in Dragonball but by the end of DBZ everyone was so OP it was immeasurable lol.
I personally enjoy both sides. Just as Goku himself grew and aged, the world within the series changed as well.Really, the only arc that's a bit tough to accept as the series sometimes is the Jinzoningen/Cell saga, which were fairly devoid of humor by comparison. Even though they have separate anime, I gravitate more toward the manga, and for me, it's one massive story.
I dont read. But i watched the entire db dbz and dbgt series
I bet if I asked most of you questions about the series, you wouldn't even be able to answer/give me the correct answer. Without cheating ofc.
