I wouldn't say this would kill the gameplay. I wouldn't recommend playing this particular MMO in VR, but I would say that VR is amazing for those who aren't playing and just socializing. Often times I just stay in major cities in MMOs and just chat with people. In that example, VR would be a perfect way to immerse yourself in the world. My two cents. Combat and other gameplay would not work that great in VR unless major changes happened to the controls and HUD.
Though i do agree, with you and jak.It wouldn't go down to well on DBO since the way it's played, but it would be nice to just to walk around, as if you were the character.not sure what skills would look like in first person, that would be something interesting to see.Kinect DBZ all over again, but maybe better? xD
I based what I said on experience. One time while playing DBO I zoomed in the camera all the way til it was basically first person and played like that for awhile cuz, well naughtyword why not? I died so many times, couldn't tell if shit was behind me or beside me and could not see my skills at all. As for socializing I have to disagree with Kyle here. At least for me, when I walked up to... well anything with that first person view, the textures got blurrier and it just looked absolutely horrible. I was like that for about 30 minutes and never zoomed in that far ever again.
Didn't know you were able to try that.well clearly the game would undergo alot of changes, for it be ready for a Oculus release.Your experience was just pure one screen, no added features other then you completely zoomed in.Oculus creates immersion, from what i've tried before, it's actually an amazing piece of tech, sure it was only a few animu games, but it was cool. However, you could probably still have the mmo perspective on an oculus, probably defeat the purpose unless it was like something like guild wars 2 with all dem greffix.
I have no doubt the Oculus has a very immersive effect (that's actually been my biggest criticism against ReviewTechUSA is that the Oculus and other VR solutions are going to be a huge hit with some first person games and pretty much every horror game). However the game you play it with would have to be somewhat immersive on its own for the oculus to really add anything to it. On games like DBO, using the Oculus, even with Oculus features added, would become nothing more than an annoyance. It would also waste your time to develop it, so please don't listen to any of the idiot DBO fan boys who think this is cool and haven't actually bothered to think about it.
I'm aware that dbo isn't in the most perfect shape for something like the rift, but i was talking in a sense as if it had a facelift, with all the added features of that facelift.sure if it's not first person, from the general mmo perspective, it'd still be quite fantastic.coupled with other technology, like thisIt could be the most immersive dragonball experience yet.
$850 is quite expensive(in total for both apparatuses), but these things are quite new.And quite innovative.I'm sure they will either go down in price or have cheap knockoff / competitors allow people to get them cheaper.I think it would absolutely awesome experience however.
